The Electric Selvagem, the first electric buggy developed in Brazil for dune regions, was officially born in Rio Grande do Norte and will cross the state border for the first time, bound for the 49th edition of ABAV Expo. The fair is the main one in the country in the tourism sector and will take place between the 21st and 23rd of September in Pernambuco.

The buggy exhibition in the neighboring state is part of Rio Grande do Norte’s tourism promotion strategy with a focus on sustainability. The Government of RN, through the State Tourism Department (Setur) and the Potiguar Tourism Promotion Company (Emprotur), will promote the vehicle at the Fair in partnership with the FIERN System, which includes SENAI, SESI, IEL and the Federation of Industries of Rio Grande do Norte (FIERN).

The buggy prototype was developed by the Center for Technologies of Gas and Renewable Energies (CTGAS-ER), of SENAI of Rio Grande do Norte, in partnership with the potiguar vehicle industry Selvagem, with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the city of Trier (EIC Trier), from Germany, and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).

The new Selvagem is currently in the testing phase and opens up new perspectives for one of the most traditional tours on the northeastern coast.

The 49th edition of ABAV Expo will be held at the Pernambuco Convention Center, in the city of Olinda. ABAV Nacional (Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies), the entity responsible for organizing and holding the event, expects to gather more than 30,000 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors.

The Electric Savage

The Electric Savage will be exhibited at the Rio Grande do Norte government stand. The car has an estimated maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h). The autonomy, at the project’s current stage – that is, the distance that you will be able to travel with full batteries before needing to be recharged – is estimated at 100 km. From the tests that will be carried out and possible future changes to the vehicle, the number may be high.

Charging the buggy is possible from domestic sockets, requiring 3 to 4 hours for a full recharge.
